This year pheasant season in South Dakota opens the earliest it can.  The season opener is always the third weekend in October but with October 1, 2016 being on a Saturday that makes the third weekend start on the 15th this year!  Of course if you live in the great state of South Dakota you can hunt public land the weekend prior making it an even earlier start as a Resident Start Date.

 

Warm weather hunting can be fun and challenging for both hunters and dogs.  Here are some helpful tips:

Tonight September 16, 2016 is the Tea Titans Homecoming Football Game.

 

I had the chance to watch the parade and took a few snapshots.

 

Come out tonight and cheer on the Titans as they take on Dell Rapids!

 1st draw has come and gone, if you did not succeed the second draw is open now. If you need help with the deadlines I put some important dates for South Dakota Residents that want to deer hunt below, as well as a link to the South Dakota Game Fish & Parks SDGFP and the application PDF.

Now is a great time to start figuring out your hunt if you plan to hunt this year.  

First draw was opened on June 1 and closes September 2 with results available September 16.

I do have favorites, and when it is favorite place in Sioux Falls for a burger and a beer, Taphouse 41 is at the top of the list!

 

 

There burgers are a healthy size, and the selection of beers is awesome.  I lived in Colorado for 14 years, and I have tasted some awesome microbrew beers, and Taphouse 41 has some contenders on the beer menu!

The Pheasant season starts a little early this year.  

It is always the 3rd weekend of October that, what seams like, the entire state's wardrobe turns bright orange!  The parking lots of Cabela's are packed.  and there are an abnormal amount of out-of-state license plates on pick-up trucks and SUV driving slow on the gravel roads.  Ahh yes, it is pheasant season.
